Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the trip expense splitting service (the “Service”) provided by Harcio (“Harcio”, “we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Description of the Service

Harcio is a personal-use application that lets you create trips, invite participants, log expenses, and compute who owes whom. The Service is offered as a personal tool, not a commercial one. We may restrict or close accounts that we detect engaging in abuse, automated out-of-scale use, or other misuse, with or without prior notice.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity occurring under your account. Notify us at [email protected] immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access.

When you invite others to a trip you remain responsible for the content you share, the participant names you add, and any IBAN information you enter.

3. Prohibited Use

The following actions are not allowed:

  • Creating fake or misleading trips, expenses, or participant entries.
  • Entering or sharing another person's IBAN without their permission.
  • Posting content that harasses, threatens, or insults other users.
  • Interfering with the Service's operation, including automated scripts, scraping, or unauthorised API access.
  • Submitting or transmitting content that violates applicable law.

4. Content Ownership

All trip content, expenses, receipts, and participant data you enter remain yours. You grant Harcio a limited licence to perform the technical processing (storage, indexing, display, executing your deletion requests) strictly necessary to deliver the Service. This licence ends when you delete your account, after which we erase your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Changes and Suspension

Harcio reserves the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service with or without prior notice. We will give as much advance notice as possible for material changes via email and in-app announcements.

6. Disclaimer of Warranty

Harcio is a debt computation helper; it does not provide formal financial, accounting, or legal advice. The debt engine produces mathematical results from the expense data you enter; differences from real-world settlements may occur because of incorrect input, missing information, rounding, or exchange-rate variation. Users should verify the calculated amounts among themselves.

The Service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Harcio shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes are announced via email and through an in-app notice. The current effective date is shown at the top of this page.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Istanbul (Çağlayan) Courts and Enforcement Offices.
